Haystack Mountain was a favorite lookoutpoint for buffalo that roamed the area. Stone tepee groundings can still be found. Niwot's Community Connection Group, for those over 50 living in Niwot
Cottonwood Square is located just a few blocks from Alfalfa Court. It is a wonderful little shopping center with a grocery store, The Niwot Market, a bank, gas station with small shop, many wonderful gift and dress shops, restaurants, a coffee house, a flower shop, a barber shop, a spa, and a pet spa.
The Niwot Children's Park is located on First Street in Old Town. It is a truly unique park and folks come from all around to bring their children to play there. The park's plan includes natural landscaping, several play and climbing structures,and a large wooly mammoth. Financed by a grant from Great Outdoors Colorado with the assistance of Boulder County and at the same time, the community raised over $20,000 from Niwot residents to contribute towards the purchase of the property and the building of the park. It opened in 2016.
The money to maintain our park comes solely from donations from our generous community members who help us offset the $12,000 annual costs of cleaning, supplies, watering, mowing and general annual upkeep.
The Pavilion area, the Pergola area and The Story Book Tree area are available to reserve for a limit of 2 hours between the hours of 9am and 6:30pm. However, the remainder of the park will remain open to the public. A tax deductible minimum donation of $25 is suggested to reserve these spaces due to the cost of maintaining our beautiful park.
Left Hand Grange Park is the original Niwot park. Located on Niwot Road and 83rd Street it has always had a baseball field but recently a playground, restrooms and picnic area have been added. It is a more traditional community park. It is located just 3 blocks from Alfalfa Court.
